The team builds and maintains the foundation of Remitly's communication systems, ensuring that notifications, transfer updates, and campaign messages are fast, reliable, and compliant. The platform processes over 100 million messages each month and supports customers in more than 70 countries. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of a unified messaging system designed for personalized, AI-driven communication, flexible vendor integration, and readiness for two-way and B2B messaging. The work emphasizes autonomy, measurable product impact, and platform-oriented thinking while collaborating with experienced engineers, product managers, and mentoring interns. You will follow a hybrid model based in Remitly's Kraków city center office, typically three days on-site and two days remote. Your responsibilities Lead design and scaling, event-driven systems that power customer communication globally. Partner with product managers, AI researchers, other product teams, and your own team to deliver the next generation of messaging tooling. Mentor peers and interns, contributing to a high-trust, high-talent engineering culture. Influence strategic decisions about vendor integrations, compliance, and future capabilities like conversational messaging. Our requirements 7 years of experience building distributed, event-driven, or platform systems at scale. Proficiency in one or more core languages (Go, Java, Python, JavaScript) and will to learn. Experience delivering resilient, observable, and compliant systems where reliability is non-negotiable. Excitement for platform engineering: building systems others depend on, balancing flexibility, performance, and cost efficiency.
