Job Description

This role is an exciting opportunity to join our Power Electronics team in Krakow, where you will be part of a small, cross-functional team of highly skilled engineers working on new breakthrough modular converter platforms based on wide bandgap semiconductors (e.g., SiC). As Design Lead, you will drive the design process for our future HVDC converter cells and other power electronic sub-systems, taking a leading role from idea generation through concept design, prototyping, and verification.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design process for HVDC converter cells and other power electronic sub-systems.
  • Contribute to new product development projects focusing on valve mechanical design tasks, involving multi-disciplinary areas like heat transfer, electrical insulation, strength of materials, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Perform mechanical design for converter valve components, including design calculations, preparation of design specifications, and technical documents.
  • Prepare 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOM.
  • Participate in various product verification tests from early prototype testing to final verification of converter valve design.
  • Contribute to solving technical challenges related to EMC/EMI, thermal management, and safety.
Your Background:
  • You are curious about sustainability and the ongoing energy transition, with a desire to work on key technologies that solve one of humanity's biggest challenges today.
  • You are a natural team player, enjoy collaborating with others, have a solutions-oriented approach, and strong communication skills.
  • Masters or PhD degree in mechanical engineering with at least 5 years of experience in Mechanical Design and new Product Development.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical core competences, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, and understanding of electrical technology.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, electrical insulation, strength of materials, fatigue of components, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Electromechanical design experience from the electric power industry or design of high-voltage products.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D-CAD modeling, ideally in NX environment.
  • Basic understanding of FEM and Ansys. Working knowledge of Team Center PLM system and SAP.
