We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Furnishing Platform team, responsible for designing and developing scalable systems and data pipelines to power our consumer credit reporting. You will collaborate closely with our Product, Compliance, Servicing, and Credit teams to create robust reporting systems, ensuring accurate and timely data delivery from Affirm's financial product portfolio to Consumer Reporting Agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve complex problems.
  • Support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics.
  • Proactively identify project, process, technology, or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
  • Support the operations and availability of your team's artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting 'keep the lights on' and on-call efforts.
  • Foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them beyond your team.
  • Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Track record of developing highly available distributed systems.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to define a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple, and extensible design.
  • Proficiency in writing high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
  • Experience in making significant changes in a large code base, and developing a suite of tools and practices to do so safely.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to support effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
  • Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
