About the Role:

We're seeking a seasoned Tech Lead/Manager to lead a small team (4-5 people) of experienced engineers. This role combines hands-on software engineering with leadership responsibilities, requiring the ability to dive deep into technical challenges, delegate tasks effectively, and cultivate a high-performing team culture.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Technical: coding, code reviews, architectural designs
  • Operations: issue triaging, system stability
  • Performance: optimizing SQL queries and API endpoints
  • Cost: managing cloud and service provider expenses
  • Management: team growth, delegation, project delivery
  • Integrations: building external system integrations

This is a hands-on position, requiring around 50% of your time for coding.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 1 year in full-time team management
  • A proven track record in managing complex projects across multiple teams
  • Skill in hiring talented engineers at various levels and building high-performing teams
  • The ability to make strategic trade-offs for delivering high-quality code in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong development and system design skills, with expertise in Python, React, and AWS as a plus
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like DataDog or similar services
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field
