Job Title: Data Analyst

The Data Analyst role at Verisk Insurance Solutions involves working with the Pricing and Strategy unit to analyze and interpret complex data sets. This position requires a strong understanding of data analysis and interpretation, as well as the ability to communicate complex findings to stakeholders.

About the Role:

As a Data Analyst, you will work closely with the Pricing and Strategy team to develop and maintain pricing models, analyze customer and market data, and create financial models for decision support. You will also be responsible for generating price estimates, creating and updating spreadsheets and databases, and maintaining existing and creating new programs using MS Access (SQL), VBA, Python, AWS, and PostgreSQL.

About the Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Assist with pricing estimates for prospective customers.
  • Create, update and maintain spreadsheets and databases.
  • Maintain existing and create new programs using MS Access (SQL), VBA, Python, AWS, and PostgreSQL.
  • Generate exhibits for distribution.
  • Research and compile customer data.
  • Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support.
  • Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools.
  • Run ad-hoc reports based on complicated data sources.
  • Perform analysis of customer and market data.
  • Verify accuracy of essential data points with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate and present results of detailed analysis and models.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's university degree.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent MS Excel and analytical skills.
  • Experience with the creation and maintenance of relational database applications.
  • Familiarity with at least some of the following: Python, SQL, AWS, PostgreSQL, R, PowerBI, PowerBuilder, Snowflake, and an ability to learn new technologies as needed.
  • Strong quantitative ability and comfort with large data sets.
  • Critical and strategic thinker with strong ability to understand and synthesize available information, and communicate clearly and concisely.
