About the Role

IMG ARENA is seeking a highly skilled Scala Engineer to join our team. As a senior-level position, this role offers the opportunity to act as a key technical pivot and be involved in solving a broad range of challenges.

The successful candidate will be responsible for further developing our platform to distribute low-latency, highly reliable sporting data to a substantial customer base. This will involve collaborating with a five-member team and reporting to the Lead Scala Engineer based in the UK.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a technical leader and mentor, taking ownership of complex technical issues
  • Working with the rest of the IMG ARENA team and other internal/external partners to define and build new products and features
  • Participating in design/architecture sessions and contributing to the technical direction of the team and department
  • Implementing new products and features according to their acceptance criteria, as well as maintaining and improving the existing features/codebase
  • Helping to define, maintain and improve ways of working
  • Assisting with the recruitment of new team members

We are looking for a professional software developer with significant experience in Scala, a strong bias for quality and engineering excellence, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of multiple JVM technologies/libraries, relational databases, and cloud services, as well as experience with build pipelines and continuous deployment models.
