Design Manager Role Overview
Ramboll is seeking a skilled Design Manager to lead the foundation design process for our Offshore Wind department. As a key member of our global team, you will be responsible for managing the interface, coordination, and direction of Discipline Leads in terms of methodology and technical solutions.
About the Role
- Manage the foundation design process, including interface, coordination, and direction of Discipline Leads (Primary Steel, Secondary Steel, Geotechnics, Metocean, Corrosion Protection, Electrical, etc.)
- Ensure each design team fully understands scope, deliverables, interfaces, and related dependencies per stage between discipline
- Hold full knowledge of contracted scope of work and deliverables per stage and per discipline
- Monitor design process progress and implement changes/variations to the design in collaboration with Change and Project Manager
- Ensure design is supporting client's key objectives and meets project specifications
- Take a central position in the design process and interfaces with various external stakeholders, covering wind turbine vendors, Fabricators, Installation Contractors, and Certification and Verification Agencies
- Accountable for end-stage review of team performance and design stage deliverables with client, internal peer review (where necessary), and Steering Committee/Project Owner
- Ensure highest standards of health and safety are promoted and maintained in the scope and within the project team

About You
We are looking for a Design Manager with a Master's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering and extensive experience working as a design or engineering manager/lead engineer within offshore wind projects. You should have a track record of applying understanding of structural engineering principles, design standard requirements, and the fabrication/construction process to produce efficient and cost-effective designs.
As a proactive and enthusiastic individual, you will be able to coordinate designs with other disciplines and stakeholders, both in person and remotely. You should have excellent communication skills, a proactive, analytical approach to assignments, and be fluent in both written and spoken English.
