Chief Linux Systems Engineer for Cloud Infrastructure

We are seeking a seasoned Linux Administrator with a strong background in cloud infrastructure to join our team at Cyclad. This role involves managing, maintaining, and optimizing Linux-based servers and environments to ensure the smooth operation of our critical systems.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent troubleshooting skills, a passion for system security, and a proactive approach to automation.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Installing, configuring, and administering Linux-based servers (e.g., Ubuntu, Cent OS, Red Hat).
  • Monitoring system performance, ensuring continuous availability and reliability.
  • Regularly updating systems, applying patches, and conducting kernel upgrades to ensure security and compliance.
  • Automating routine system tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Enforcing security best practices, including setting up firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and file permissions.
  • Executing backups, implementing recovery procedures, and developing disaster recovery plans.
  • Overseeing storage solutions, including NFS, RAID, LVM, and SAN systems.
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Managing user access and permissions, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
  • Documenting system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Deploying and monitoring logging and alerting tools to track system health and prevent outages.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Linux systems administration.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus.
  • Proficiency with Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, Cent OS, Red Hat).
  • Experience with shell scripting (Bash) and automation tools.
  • A strong understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, NFS, etc.).
  • Practical experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Knowledge of cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • An understanding of security tools and practices (SELinux, iptables, firewalld).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent command of the English language (at least B2 level).
