We're looking for a Backend Developer to join the team shaping the first 7-day experience of new players — a crucial journey in Papaya's product.

You'll play a key role in designing and delivering backend systems that power seamless, scalable experiences. As a technical leader within the team, you'll own core architectural decisions, guide backend direction, and write production-ready code that supports millions of players.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement backend features that support onboarding and early user engagement.
  • Own the architecture and evolution of scalable, performant backend systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Unity developers, product managers, and analysts to deliver full-stack experiences.
  • Ensure system robustness, reliability, and maintainability in a high-traffic environment.
  • Provide technical guidance to drive backend excellence across the team.
  • Write high-quality and performant code following industry best practices and standards.
  • Experiment with new technologies, tools, and 3rd party frameworks. Utilize them to deliver state-of-the-art tech.
  • Mentor new members of the team.
  • Tech stack: AWS, Kubernetes, NodeJs, Typescript, Redis, MySQL
  • Supporting recruitment process.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of proven record in server applications design and development.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud architecture.
  • Proficient in a major development language.
  • Passion for learning new technologies and applying them to make a difference.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, scalability, and performance optimization.
  • Experience working in full-stack teams and integrating with game clients or frontend systems.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
