Senior Data Engineer
plays a pivotal role in delivering robust pipelines and data products, ensuring integrity, compliance, and performance across discovery, build, validation, and release phases.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or similar (or equivalent experience)
• 3–5 years as a Data Engineer delivering production pipelines on Azure
• English: B2+ working proficiency (C1 preferred); all communication and documentation in English; comfortable with PST/EST overlap
• Advanced Python and SQL
• Databricks and Spark (PySpark, notebooks/jobs, Delta Lake, performance tuning, cost control)
• ETL/ELT design and orchestration with Azure Data Factory or Fabric Data Pipelines (triggers, IRs, retries)
• Data modeling and warehousing (e.g. star/snowflake, partitioning/Z-ORDER, schema evolution; Delta, Parquet, ORC)
• Data quality and testing (e.g. pytest, dbt tests; unit/integration tests; reproducible pipelines)
• Monitoring and observability (e.g. Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Databricks metrics; SLAs/SLOs and alerting)
• Clear documentation and runbooks (lineage, data dictionaries, incident playbooks)

Nice to have:

• CI/CD with Git and Azure DevOps (repos, pipelines, release promotion; code reviews)
• Security, privacy, governance (Azure Key Vault, Managed Identities/RBAC, Private Link/VNet; Purview or Unity Catalog; PHI/PII de identification; HIPAA/GDPR awareness)
• API and streaming ingestion (REST/JSON, Event Hubs/Kafka; CDC where applicable)
• Synapse/Fabric experience; Snowflake exposure (Azure-first required)
• dbt (Core/Cloud), Delta Live Tables
• ML enablement (MLflow integration, feature store basics) and collaboration with MLOps
• Healthcare data standards (HL7/FHIR); FinOps; IaC (Terraform/Bicep)

Job responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure, reliable, and scalable data pipelines (batch and real-time) on Azure
• Ingest data from RDBMS, APIs, events, and files into ADLS/Delta Lake with robust ELT patterns
• Implement modular ETL/ELT with ADF/Fabric and Databricks; optimize storage and queries (partitioning, Z-ORDER, caching)
• Establish data quality checks, schema drift detection, data contracts, and monitoring dashboards
• Collaborate with AI/ML Engineers, MLOps, and Architects to enable model training, validation, deployment, and feature delivery
• Enforce governance and access controls (Purview/Unity Catalog, RBAC), and apply privacy controls (masking, tokenization, de-identification)
• Set up observability for pipelines and jobs; maintain runbooks, handle incidents, and drive root-cause analysis
• Implement CI/CD for data code and infrastructure; manage environments and release promotion
• Document data models, lineage, and integration patterns for technical and non-technical audiences
• Provide technical mentorship and contribute to engineering standards and best practices
• Phase 1 (Discovery/Research): assess data readiness, sources, access, constraints; define ingestion and governance strategy
• Phase 2 (Build/Development): implement production pipelines, quality controls, monitoring; enable interoperability testing
• Later phases: support validation, audits, UAT, and production deployment with resilient, monitored data infrastructure
