About the role

As part of its middle office services, State Street maintains a multi-asset-class market risk engine used by both internal and external clients to produce sensitivities, historical simulation-based risk calculations, and factor-based risk calculations. Consumers of this output include a wide variety of asset managers and asset owners, using it for enterprise risk management, regulatory filings, and other portfolio and instrument-level analytics. To deliver this service, the Financial Engineering team in North America designs and assists in the implementation of valuation models, data ingestion and transformation processes, and analytics calculation methods.

Working with Client Services and Operations staff, The Financial Engineering Support Team serves as front-line support to recommend best practices, interpret results, troubleshoot unwanted behaviors, and correct errors in order to meet deliverables. This team has detailed knowledge of both models and data processes relevant to the end-to-end processing of client positions.

The leader of this team will both take responsibility for ensuring the teamâs fulfilment of its daily duties as well as working with financial engineers, developers, and other product managers to increase automation, efficiency, and quality of results across Operations workflows.

This position is a hybrid role with 2 days in the office per week (days agreed with manager), which you can perform in our offices in Krakow (Centrum Biurowe Kazimierz) or Gdansk (Titanium Tower, Alchemia II). During the onboarding time it is important to us that you will be available fully in the office, what will help us to prepare you well to your work. Working hours: 10 AM - 6 PM.

Your new role

As a Financial Engineering Support Senior Expert you will:

  • Research, spec, test, and document new data processes, enhancements to existing processes, and user interfaces to initiate and monitor them.

  • Work closely with the internal Market Data function to provide training, guidance, and recommendations on data sources, changes to existing market data, and new data required for risk modeling.

  • Provide training to Operations staff on the production of market risk analytics across the entire position lifecycle, from ingestion through enrichment to simulation and analytics output.

  • Monitor Operations and Market Data practices to identify need for process or platform improvements; work across functions to implement these changes.

  • Research, spec, and test model components as needed and where appropriate.

The activities have independent performance and they are largely original. The result of the work are, for example, macros, codes, tests, manual tests, test scenarios, scripts and stories.

  • Undergraduate or graduate coursework, or equivalent prior work experience, in areas relevant to quantitative finance

  • Industry experience of at least 5 years

  • Working knowledge of Python, C++ / C#, VBA, SQL

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfort with basic concepts of arbitrage-free pricing theory

  • Comfort with basic market risk analytics
