Job Description
 Zendesk Reporting and Analytics is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our performance team You will work with complex systems running at global scale supporting the business intelligence product used by 100,000 Zendesk customers. You will have significant opportunities for high-impact, high-visibility work on performance, observability, efficiency, and cost savings. The ideal candidate will have some experience as a backend developer along with experience or an interest in improving the performance of analytics product. You like being close to the infrastructure layer and enjoy measuring and tuning systems for performance improvement and cost reduction.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and maintain the tool to measure and improve performance for our customer reporting product.

  • Actively participate in the full software development cycle with coding, pair programming, peer reviews, and testing.

  • Proactively contribute to improving our infrastructure, code, and processes.

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineering managers, and technical peers to estimate and prioritize units of work.

  • Participate in technical discussions and communicate your ideas and vision to others. You enjoy debates and brainstorming and focus on finding pragmatic and reliable solutions.

What you bring to the roleBasic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience as a backend software developer, with experience or an interest in data engineering

  • Experience in a strongly typed programming language (e.g., Java or Scala)

  • Experience working with relational databases, and with authoring and analyzing queries in SQL

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with developing and maintaining systems on AWS cloud services such as S3, and RDS, or similar tools on another cloud platform

  • Some experience working on analytics tools

Tech Stack

  • Our code is written in Ruby, Scala, Typescript.

  • Our infrastructure runs on AWS ECS clusters, and we maintain our infrastructure using Terraform.

  • Our data are stored in AWS Aurora PostgreSQL

  • We are also using AWS Aurora MySQL as application databases

  • We are using Github Actions as part of our CI/CD process.

  • Datadog is our tool for monitoring and logging.

In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our {insert location} office on a weekly basis for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.

The Poland annualized base salary range for this position is zÅ154,000.00-zÅ230,000.00. Please note that while the salary range represents the minimum and maximum base salary rate for this position, the actual compensation offered will be based on job related capabilities, applicable experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives that will be communicated during the offer stage.
