N-4 Manager of Markets Software Engineering

Markets Software Engineering (YIPCM) unit is established as a result of Vattenfall IT 7.0 âLevelUpâ and in principle will concentrate software development deliveries towards Markets BA within Asset IT. Newly created team will be reporting within Asset Software Engineering (YIPC) domain. Employees and consultants in the team are going to be moved from Customer IT (YIA) where this responsibility previously resided.

Team Manager will be responsible for two types of deliveries towards markets: (1) end-2-end delivery of assigned software solutions (from requirements management to maintenance) and (2) building up required competence base to collaborate within agile teams currently being present in structures of BA Markets.

A newly recruited leader will be playing a role of entry point for all software engineering requests coming from Markets BA towards Vattenfall IT.

On top of that responsible person will focus on:

• skills development of the assigned squads and performance management
• managing and optimizing the balance between project demands and available resources to achieve financial targets
• ensure quality and timely delivery

This position has an international scope (employees are located in Poland, consultants might be located in other Vattenfall countries) therefore traveling is required on the position.

We are now looking for a N4 Manager of Markets Software Engineering (YIPCM) for managing a newly introduced unit within structures of Software Engineering department (YIPC) in Asset IT

What will you do?   

 

Your tasks and responsibilities: 

• Manage and motivate assigned employees and consultants working from Poland within various agile teams within BA Markets (mainly software engineers, scrum masters)
• Ensure the team has right people, skills and capacity fitting the current and planned deliveries aligned with your peer managers in BA Markets
• Balance capacity and delivery needs through a combination of offering, assignments management, hiring, consultant sourcing, onboarding and personal development
• Effectively staff squads and assign products and projects in most efficient way
• Collaborate with your peers within Asset Software Engineering and Asset IT to reach the department goals
• Be responsible for the designs of new potential products
• Actively promote agile transformation and strive for more efficient agile way-of-working by being Agile Coach for the assigned teams and working closely with Product Owners
• Develop technology stack used for the delivery in responsible way, enabling growth of individuals and ensuring development and maintainability in a long-term
• Effectively collaborate with business stakeholders to design, align, commit and deliver highest quality software engineering services and products
• Ensure right leadership for waterfall and agile software delivery projects
• Oversee software design, delivery and support phases to ensure high quality of services
• Personnel development and recruitment in accordance with the HR process
• Preparation of personnel resource planning (FTE and FTC)
• Monitoring of workload and motivation of the team members
• Coordination of the competence assignments to projects
• Managing financial aspects of the team (OH, Projects and SLAs assigned). Business plan vs forecasting and actuals are reported do N-3 level.

As our Manager of Markets Software Engineering you:

• Hold academic degree in engineering or business administration.
• Have minimum of 4 yearsâ experience in managing team or project / agile team with proven successful track record.
• Have significant experience in Agile methods and principles, as an Agile coach, Scrum master or similar.
• Have strong management and communication skills; you are a problem solver, and your collaboration skills ensure effective collaboration with business leaders/stakeholders.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently, to take initiative and to follow-through
• Have perfect command of the English language is needed to be successful in this job (Swedish or German language will be an advantage)
• Are a practitioner in software engineering, minimum 5 yearsâ experience (know tools and technics to build software products based on cloud and on premise environments)
• Have the skill to efficiently split big goals to smaller operational tasks and then compile results into âbigger pictureâ
• Are result oriented with a strong drive to reach targets by organizing own and teamsâ work
• Have hands on personality with proven experience in requirements management and corresponding methodologies
