AstraZeneca's R&D Data Office plays a crucial role in shaping data and AI strategies within the industry. The Data Office offers a range of data services, technology, and products, all underpinned by robust data and AI governance, aimed at unlocking the full potential of data to drive groundbreaking scientific advancements.

The Data Products and Platforms Team at the Data Office oversees the complete hosting, processing, and administration of study and patient information, covering clinical, imaging, and omics data as well as related study details, fostering cross R&D utilization. Their goal is to make data "FAIR" (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) while ensuring proper data management.

You will play a key role in managing data, handling both curation and operational aspects for the Data Office's Products and Platform teams.

Working independently within the team, you will supervise tasks as needed to ensure the availability of relevant study and patient content to downstream users in a compliant manner. Your duties will involve responding to and fulfilling requests for study patient data services, encompassing data operations like ingestion, curation, completeness verification, and reporting on study and patient data assets. As part of this role, you will oversee automated data flows into systems and catalogs, as well as manual data stewardship and management activities.

You will approach your work with a strong focus on customer satisfaction, delivering results and contributing to the development of structured operational metrics, and actively participating in ongoing enhancements of study patient data services. Whenever process modifications are introduced, you will ensure they are properly documented, versioned, and implemented. Throughout these procedures, you will ensure operational alignment with relevant data policies and standards to mitigate data risks and privacy concerns. Ideally, you will have a background in the pharmaceutical industry and be well-versed in the setup, execution, and management of clinical studies.

Education, Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

Essential:

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field, coupled with practical experience or an equivalent number of years in the industry
  • Hands-on experience in Agile development, preferably within a business context
  • A degree in Information/Data Science, Computer Science, Informatics, IT, or a related discipline
  • Strong Business Acumen (pharmaceuticals and life sciences): Demonstrated understanding of the business domain (clinical studies and products) and industry trends to facilitate informed decision-making and align analytics initiatives with business objectives
  • Proven experience in clinical data management, data analysis, or business analysis roles related to data and information management, with tangible examples of data analysis, management, or processing based on specified requirements
  • Expertise in business process mapping, including as-is and to-be process mapping, and the ability to create requirements and other structured technical documents, along with assisting others in requirements analysis and data management activities
  • Excellent communication abilities and relationship-building skills
  • Experience in executing projects within a GxP regulated environment
  • Problem-solving skills: Proficiency in identifying and resolving intricate analytical and technical issues, ensuring the precision and reliability of analytics solutions
  • Williness and ability to travel domestically and internationally

Desirable:

  • Post-graduate degree in IT, Data Management
  • Proven track record of delivering quantifiable value in a similar role with a comparable level of challenge and opportunity
  • Familiarity with Drug Discovery and Development practices in BioPharma
  • Strong background in Change Management
  • Experience as a project manager with a solid understanding of project phases and the relationship between traditional project management and Agile methodologies
  • Professional certification in a specific area, such as Data Management or IT business analysis
