Responsibilities

We are looking for a dynamic Accountant with strong analytical abilities to join our team. Reporting to the Global Operations Accounting Sr. Manager, you will be responsible for leading MSA's Global Intercompany Inventory and Transfer Pricing financial process. Duties include closing activities, providing monthly variance analysis and reporting as well as budgeting and forecasting.

This role ensures the integrity of Intercompany accounting information in accordance with company practices and GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles). If this sounds like an exciting opportunity, then we want to hear from you

Description of duties and responsibilities:

Cost Accounting

  • Prepare master data set-up and costing of new material for EU and APAC Region.
  • Completes regional production and material variances accounting. Post related capitalized variance journal entries and complete all reconciliations.
  • Provide monthly variance analysis and variance forecasting updates.
  • Assist in the annual plant and material standard cost budget process.
  • Maintain and update plant cost center spend templates.
  • Inventory and Inventory Reserves
  • Inventory at standard and WIP G/L to S/L reconciliation for EU and APAC Region.
  • Complete monthly inventory flux and variance analysis for EU and APAC Region.
  • Complete impaired and slow-moving inventory reserve analysis and book monthly journal entries. Partner with plant leads to identify and track potential one-off impaired inventory.
  • Assist in the development of the annual global cycle count and physical inventory plans for all EU and APAC MSA locations.
  • Ensure all Plant and Distribution centers leads are trained and adhere to MSA cycle count policies and controls.
  • Complete monthly cycle count reporting analysis for EU and APAC Regions.

Intercompany Material

  • EU and APAC Region Business Process Owner (BPO) for MSA Intercompany Price/PIR accounting.
  • Ensure all affiliates are following and adhering to the global policy.
  • Daily set-up and maintenance of all new Intercompany PIR's for European and APAC regions.
  • Ensure Master data and costing is correct for all Intercompany sourced materials.
  • Partner with tax to implement Yearly or Mid-Year Intercompany Price rates.
  • Provide process guidance and ad hoc reporting as needed.
  • Complete weekly and final month end P&L Variance Analysis of the I/C PPV.
  • Compile a listing of the materials driving the P&L variance and lead corrective actions.

Fixed Asset

  • Process EU and APAC region additions, disposals, and transfers in accordance with MSA Fixed Asset accounting policies.
  • Responsible for maintaining asset under construction and CAPEX expenditure schedules. Complete monthly flux and variance analysis.
  • Responsible for fixed asset month end close accounting functions and journal entries.
  • Complete monthly reporting schedules, flux analysis and G/L to S/L reconciliations

Other Functions

  • Provide external, internal audit and Sarbanes Oxley support.
  • Participate and support new acquisitions, special projects, and corporate initiatives.
  • Actively participate on other corporate special project teams, meet project timelines and complete actions according to project schedule.
Qualifications

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Proven ability to analyze complex sets of data and provide root causes and recommendations based upon analysis results.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft clear, concise, and accurate accounting and financial reports or documents of a moderately complex nature.
  • Solid computer skills in MS Office products, especially Excel.
  • Proven experience working on multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating project plans, meeting deadlines, and producing high-quality work results and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver oral presentations, primarily to internal associates.
  • Proven ability to identify project obstacles and use creativity to develop alternative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to make recommendations and follow through on course of action.
  • A strong continuous improvement orientation and desire to grow in skills and career.
  • Fluency in English

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or related discipline.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • SAP ECC experience
  • Microsoft Power BI experience
