Cost Estimator Specialist

Position summary

Central Estimating provides a liaison between manufacturing and sales to verify consistency and accuracy of internal and external quotes. The Cost Estimator analyzes prints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services. The department provides a single point of contact for European Sealing Division quotes.

Essential responsibilities, duties and authority

1. Maintains the knowledge and experience to prepare customer quotes.
2. Participates in Pricing Committee meetings for review of new quotations.
3. Contains the expertise to review data and determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists.
4. Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as; planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors and determining cost effectiveness.
5. Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
6. Interacts with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Logistic and Manufacturing relative to product costing.

Required knowledge/education, qualification/ability and/or experience

Master's degree in finance or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent. Requires a broadly educated person who has demonstrated the intelligence to learn both technical and business aspects of job. 5 years of experience, in the Automotive industry, in a Costing, Process, Sales, Financial Department is a plus. Advanced Excel (database management, pivot tables...) SAP experience is a plus.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently (self task management), Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Attention to quality of performed analyses and outcome results, Ability to easily translate Cost estimating results to coworkers. Ability to interact with all levels/departments throughout the company, English for business purposes mandatory (fluent appreciated).

Work environment/ work conditions

General office setting, Potential Business trip during onboarding to visit Cooper Standard production plant in Europe. Member of an European Cost Estimator team
