What is Global Commissions Team responsible for?

Global Commissions team has responsibility for accounting and reporting of sales, distribution, and marketing transactions in books of Franklin Templeton and its subsidiaries.

The work includes effective operation of the processing and analyzing of broker/dealer commissions for all European and International fund groups. Collaborating with others in the commission group and other members within the global finance organization.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of Assistant Accountant?

Download and format daily bank statements. Record bank transactions in Workday general ledger. Monitor daily cash balances to ensure no overdrafts. Analyze invoiced payments and record in Workday general ledger. Prepare and post front-end commissions mid-month and month end AP CBC Payments and AP FX Movement. Prepare and post front-end commissions mid-month and month end commission transfer movements. Prepare and analyze monthly front-end CBC payment match. Prepare and Post CBC CF Balances. Maintain monthly returns reconciliation. Prepare and post bank returns and payments. Prepare and post monthly returns write off. Mid-month & month end analysis for payables, receivables. Month end analysis for front end Month end analysis of Deferred Commissions Amortization. Month end analysis of Deferred Sales Commission Fees. Participate in departmental projects and/or participate in cross-departmental projects. Assist with maintenance of policies and procedures related to global commissions. Provide support to Supervisor in month and quarter end reporting.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

An accounting/business tertiary education from a recognized university/college 1-2+ year practical accounting experience. Good understanding of financial processes, practices, and applications. Working towards an accounting qualification viewed favorably. Work experience within the investment management industry and/or financial sector preferred. Solid analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient computer skills including applications within Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint). Experience with automated financial systems, including the general ledger, is required. Workday experience viewed favorably. Experience working with large volume of data and close attention to detail required. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently and remotely. Strong attention to detail Ability to perform mathematical calculations and analysis. Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision. Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with department guidelines. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties including Company management and outside business associates. Knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary Works under general supervision; work is reviewed for accuracy. Develops solutions to a variety of problems; ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
