Discover more about career opportunities at Splunk and how you can be part of our journey.About the Position:Splunk is on the lookout for enthusiastic and innovative Software Engineers to join our Splunk Observability team. You will be involved in projects that empower our customers to quickly identify and resolve infrastructure and application issues. Collaborate with architects, product managers, and industry experts to design and implement modern, scalable, and reliable systems that underpin Splunk Observability products. We are dedicated to solving our customers' challenges and developing top-notch products, and your contribution will be crucial to our success in this rapidly growing sector.Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to best software development practices and set a high standard for the team by leading design, code review, and test plan assessments regularly.
  • Incorporate excellence in reliability, scalability, and performance in distributed system design.
  • Lead the design of new systems and oversee the implementation.
  • Identify and realize opportunities for improvement in engineering and operational excellence.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and other operational tasks to uphold service delivery quality.
  • Troubleshoot and provide solutions or fixes for customer-reported issues or requests.
  • Assist in estimating work across sprints and quarters.
  • Contribute to the growth of new engineers through design and code review, tech talks, mentoring, and pair-programming.
Requirements:
  • Passionate about constructing, monitoring, and running distributed systems at scale in production.
  • Understanding of the challenges and trade-offs involved in building and deploying systems.
  • Strong foundation in computer science, particularly in operating systems, networks, data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software design.
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated capability for creative thinking and entrepreneurial exploration.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and optimizing highly concurrent systems.
  • Ability to lead complex technical decisions and mentor junior engineers.
  • Proficiency in at least one of Java, C#, or Go, with solid programming experience.
  • Experience with test-driven development and various automated testing levels.
  • Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Prior work with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields; minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
