The offer

As a GFCP Expert/GFCP Senior Expert focusing on sanctions-advice requests, your responsibilities will include investigating, assessing, advising on, and reporting on cases concerning international sanctions regulations and Nordea's internal policies. You will collaborate with various teams across Group Financial Crime Prevention (GFCP), the GFCP Sanctions Team, Business Areas (BAs), and Group Financial Crime Compliance (GFCC).

This role is part of the GFCP Sanctions Advisory and Risk Management (SARM) / 1LoD Sanctions Advisory Team, which operates within the broader GFCP Sanctions unit at Nordea as part of the First Line of Defence (1LoD).

We are enthusiastic, professional, and unwavering in our commitment to doing what's right. You will work with stakeholders located across the Nordics, Estonia, Poland, and the UK.


What you will be doing:

  • Driving business as usual processes through investigation and advisory on complex sanctions topics for the Bank
  • Supporting Nordea's efforts in effectively managing sanctions risks
  • Contributing your insights to large projects aimed at reducing the Bank's sanctions-related risks
  • Collaborating with various teams, including sanctions investigations, KYC, Business Areas, Compliance, and other parts of the bank's financial crime structure

You are based in Gdansk, Lodz, Warsaw, Tallinn, Helsinki, or Stockholm.

Your background should include:

  • Extensive experience in managing regulatory matters in a dynamic, regulated environment
  • Thorough knowledge of sanctions and the regulatory landscape
  • Proven track record in a fast-paced, international setting
  • Prior experience in sanctions advisory
  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written)
  • Excellent investigative and analytical abilities
  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree

It would be advantageous if your background also includes:

  • Familiarity with Sanctions regulations and experience applying them in Financial Services
  • International Compliance Association (ICA) Certification (sanctions focused) or Association of Certified Sanctions Specialists (ACSS) Certification
  • Proficiency in a Nordic language
