Qualitative Model Validation team is an expert function within Model Risk Management (MRM) organization that consists of finance, statistics, and risk professionals responsible for review and assessment of qualitative models. During Model Validation, Junior Model Risk Analyst reviews model performance, data and assumptions under Validation Lead supervision, assesses if they meet standards defined in Citi policy and submits the results to Model Owner.
Qualitative Models rely on qualitative estimation approach such as expert judgment or forecast workshop rather than on quantitative techniques such as regression techniques and machine learning algorithms. Qualitative Models are widely used in areas such as stress testing and financial planning. We are working in a dynamically developing international team reviewing a large variety of models covering numerous areas and banking products.
Key activities include:
- Contributing to independent validation of qualitative models across the firm, in line with the Citi Model Risk Management Policy and procedures. This includes:
- Review model design, data and assumptions
- Evaluating testing approach and results for individual models in accordance with MRM guidance
- Assessing model performance on an ongoing basis
- Writing high quality validation reports, including highlighting risks and limitations of the model
- Collaborating with other teams within Risk and the Business regarding qualitative models to facilitate compliance with our policies, procedures, and guidance
- Assisting with preparing the reports and other meeting materials to MRM management
- Supporting the process of designing, developing, delivering and maintaining best-in-class qualitative model validation process standards, guidance, practices, templates and other documentation
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor' degree in Finance or Economics, or quantitative discipline (statistics, quantitative finance, econometrics).
- Some professional experience in Banking, Treasury, Finance or Risk management preferred, however talented candidates without related experience (e.g. with PhD in progress or relevant risk or finance certification as PRM/FRM/CFA in progress/completed) will be considered
- Basic knowledge of financial markets and products
- Basic knowledge of statistics
- Demonstrate excellent partnership and teamwork skills
- Ability to formulate findings clearly and concisely in a written form and good verbal communication skills
- Good analytic, creative thinking and problem solving abilities
- Adept and meticulous at analysis and documentation
- Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and committed to deliver under tight deadlines
- Knowledge of Python or R language would be a plus
- Knowledge of time series analysis and econometrics would be a plus
