In conjunction with continuous organic growth Vard Marine Gdańsk is looking for Candidates to join our growing Team in a capacity of Marine Electrical Design Engineers. We're seeking both for experienced Marine Engineers to step into the Senior Level roles and talented and enthusiastic Junior or Mid Level Aspirants.

Marine Electrical Design Engineers (all experience levels)

As a member of the Team, you will participate in various projects from concept and basic phase, through class design, till detailed engineering and follow up.
Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Provide the design of ship electrical and control systems
  • Provide power system and electrical load analyses including short circuit, harmonic, relay coordination, arc flash, transient stability
  • Prepare equipment and installation specifications
  • Prepare testing, commissioning specifications and procedures
  • Review and evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective
  • Review suppliers documentation and integrate into design
  • Liaise with other departments in order to integrate and coordinate electrical systems with overall design of the Vessel
  • Perform design checks and reviews to meet quality control and assurance requirements
  • Liaise with Clients and build trusting relationships
  • Support construction, commissioning and testing
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Team, coordinate and oversee the work of the Design Engineers (Senior Level)
  • Mentor employees to help develop baseline knowledge of electrical applications at Vard Marine (Senior Level)
  • Prepare capex and engineering cost estimates (Senior Level)
Qualifications
  • Recognized post-secondary education such as electrical engineering degree, diploma or similar
  • Experienced in shipbuilding or marine industry (or willing to connect his life with)
  • Experienced with electrical and control systems on ships including generators, power distribution, switchboards, breakers, motor controls, variable speed drives, passive and active harmonic filters, EMC management, fire protection, public address, lighting, cable management, data networks (or willing to acquire this knowledge)
  • Fluent in written and verbal English and Polish with excellent communication and technical writing skills

Desired skills and abilities for Senior positions:

  • Knowledge of Classification society rules and regulations, international electrical standards, equipment survivability conditions
  • Integration of ship-specific equipment such as IPMS, electric propulsion systems
  • Power analysis software such as: ETAP, SKM, EasyPower or equivalents
  • Power distribution design such as one line & 3 line diagram, protection and control schematics
  • Active use of software for electrical design, lighting design& calculations
  • Physical layout design of equipment, tray, lighting, instruments, fire protection, controls
  • Design of cable block, wiring and termination diagrams, cable schedules, motor and control schematics, electrical drive systems, panel layout and schedules.
