What You'll Do

The embedded manageability team creates machine-to-machine management interfaces for IOS-XR based routing/switching platforms. If you enjoy API design and are dedicated to simplifying DevOps for the router, we'd love to hear from you. In this role, you'll contribute to the advanced manageability stack being constructed for Cisco's leading IOS-XR, targeting hyper-scalers and service providers.

Who You'll Work With

The Cisco IOS-XR team develops a programmability stack that exposes Cisco's Flagship IOS-XR Operating System through an API. This cohesive team is focused on delivering an innovative, scalable, and dependable programmatic OS to various market segments, catering to Cisco's Campus, Branch, Service Provider Edge, and hyper scalers. You'll collaborate with a remarkable group of engineers with diverse expertise who are working on the next-generation m2m interface, manageability technology stack, and tooling for network automation at scale. Who You Are

  • Expertise and practical experience with C/C++/golang
  • Proficiency in Python programming
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems programming, including data structures, operating system fundamentals, and algorithms
  • Good team player
  • Prior experience in management APIs using REST or XML/Yang data models
  • Familiarity with Open config models and services like grpc, gnmi, gnoi
  • Knowledge of Openstack, OMI, Google Protocol Buffers
  • Experience with Linux, Kernel Programming, and Open-Source technologies
  • Expertise in performance monitoring of networks, specifically APM, NPM, regarding WAN in both Service Providers and Hyper Scalers space. Bonus points if you have developed products for network visibility for on-prem and SaaS offerings

What You Will Do

  • Develop embedded manageability agents for Netconf, Gnmi, Telemetry
  • Create and refine the Yang data models for various operational and configuration data on the embedded system
  • Build a high-scale statistics streaming infrastructure on embedded platforms to support onbox/offbox analytics engines
  • Design automated tests to verify the embedded manageability software modules
  • Lead and engage in peer design/code reviews
  • Produce functional/design specifications for embedded manageability software

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • BS degree in CS/EE/CE or equivalent technical field
