Senior Java Backend Developer

As a developer at Wolf you will be building a highly scalable, reliable, distributed financial platform driving a variety of products in the fintech space. You will be a part of driving the pivotal digital change in the banking and financial services area. We design and develop software using top class software engineering practices. We strongly believe that digital financial services are not the future, they are presently here and now and we need to take the opportunity to surf the wave of financial change.
Responsibilities- You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and high-performance backend systems using Java and related technologies. This involves translating business requirements into technical solutions, designing the system architecture, and implementing efficient algorithms and data structures.
- You will work closely with other teams, such as frontend developers, data engineers, and DevOps engineers, to integrate backend systems with frontend applications and external APIs. This includes designing and implementing APIs for seamless data exchange and communication between different systems.
- You will be responsible for designing and optimizing the database schema, writing efficient queries, and ensuring data integrity and security. This involves working with SQL and NoSQL databases, caching mechanisms, and data replication techniques.
- Performance Optimization: As a senior developer, you will be expected to optimize the performance of the backend systems by identifying and resolving bottlenecks, improving code efficiency, and implementing caching and indexing strategies. This includes conducting performance testing and tuning to ensure the system can handle a high volume of transactions and requests.
- Security and Compliance: In the fintech industry, security and compliance are critical. You will need to implement secure coding practices, follow industry-standard security protocols, and adhere to relevant regulatory requirements such as data protection and privacy laws. This includes handling sensitive data securely, implementing authentic
- Strong Java Development Skills: You should have expert-level proficiency in Java programming language, including a deep understanding of core Java concepts, object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, and design patterns. Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate is highly desirable.
- Backend Development Experience: You should have a proven track record of designing, developing, and maintaining complex backend systems using Java. Experience with developing scalable and high-performance applications, implementing APIs, working with databases (both SQL and NoSQL), and integrating systems is essential.
- Financial Industry Knowledge: A strong understanding of the financial industry, including knowledge of financial products, trading systems, payment processing, risk management, and compliance requirements, is highly beneficial. Familiarity with financial protocols and standards such as FIX, ISO 20022, and SWIFT would be an advantage.
- Web Technologies: Proficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and RESTful APIs is important. Knowledge of front-end frameworks like Angular or React is a plus, as it enables effective collaboration with frontend developers.
- Database Management: Experience in working with databases, including SQL and NoSQL databases, is necessary. You should be proficient in writing efficient queries, designing and optimizing database schema, and ensuring data integrity and security.
- Security and Compliance: Fintech companies deal with sensitive financial data, so knowledge of security best practices, encryption techniques, authentication and authorization mechanisms, and compliance requirements such as GDPR, PCI-DSS, and SOX is crucial.
- Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking are essential to identify and resolve complex technical issues, optimize performance, and ensure system stability. Experience with debugging tools, performance profiling, and troubleshooting is important.
- Team Collaboration and Leadership: As a senior developer, you should be able to work effectively in a team environment, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical leadership. Excellent communication skills are required to convey ideas, share knowledge, and mentor junior developers.
- Continuous Learning and Adaptability: The fintech industry evolves rapidly, so a commitment to continuous learning and keeping up with the latest trends, tools, and technologies is crucial. Being adaptable and open to change is important in an agile development environment.
- Education and Experience: A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is typically required. Relevant work experience as a backend developer, preferably in the fintech or financial services industry, is highly valued.
