The Opportunity:

We are looking for a versatile, curious, and energetic Staff Software Engineer who embraces solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Staff Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.

Essential Functions:

• As a Staff SW Engineer, you will be part of our Visa Developer Platform (VDP) team to help design, enhance and build API On-boarding/Publishing platform in an agile development environment. You will play part of multiple teams tasked with multiple projects ranging from building full stack development of microservices, REST services API, Container based services to highly functional, secure, scalable and resilient systems.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance applications using Java, Spring Boot, and modern frontend frameworks such as Angular or React.

• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and Microservices architecture.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.

• Integrate and leverage Generative AI tools (e.g., OpenAI API, LangChain, etc.,) into applications to enable intelligent features such as automated content generation, summarization, and contextual search.

• Utilize AI-powered developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve coding efficiency and quality.

• Apply design patterns and test automation frameworks to ensure maintainable, high-quality code.

• Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.

• Work within an Agile/Scrum environment, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

• Implement Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines for faster, more reliable releases.

• Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to complex problems.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience with a University degree in Computer Science or related field

• Proficiency in Full Stack development, including:- Backend: Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, RESTful APIs.- Databases: Oracle, MySQL.- Frontend: Angular, React, CSS, JavaScript.- Build Tools: Maven.- Design Patterns and Test Automation frameworks.

• Experience with Generative AI tools:- OpenAI API / GPT models for intelligent feature development.

• Ability to write clean, coherent, and maintainable code following established guidelines.

• Strong problem-solving skills for complex software architecture and design challenges.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience working as part of an Agile/Scrum team.

• Passion for delivering zero-defect code that meets or exceeds quality SLAs.

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment best practices.

• Strong research skills with a keen eye for detail.

• Team-oriented mindset with a high sense of accountability.

• Experience with AI-enabled developer productivity tools (GitHub Copilot, Cline, Cursor etc.,) and vector databases for AI-powered search.

• Commitment to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest in software development and AI advancements.
