Be a part of strategic development projects and contribute to mission-critical optimization, resiliency, and performance improvement work for our clients. Collaborate with engineering, product, QA and sales teams to drive the platform innovation and modernization.This job is a hybrid role with at 3 days in the office per week, which you can perform from our offices in Krakow and Gdansk.Responsibilities:Database Design and ArchitectureDesign and implement scalable, performant and highly available distributed database solutionsCollaborate with peers across scrum teams to design and deliver database design conforming to database best practices and meet business and application requirementsCreate and maintain comprehensive documentation of database design, data models, configurations, and processesDatabase Development and optimizationWrite complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and script to support application developmentOptimize performance through indexing, SQL query optimization, and other database tuning techniquesMonitor database performance metrics, analyze and identify bottlenecks, and recommend short-term and long-term solutionsCollaborate with engineering teams to define performance test strategy, and develop toolsets to generate synthetic datasets for effective and repeatable performance testsImplement and manage database security, including access controls, encryption, and auditingDatabase AdministrationCollaborate with production DBA team to troubleshoot and resolve database production issue in timely mannerMonitor and maintain database health to ensure data integrity, availability, and disaster recoveryPerform database installation, configuration, and upgrades in lower environmentsCollaboration and LeadershipProvide thought leadership on the topic of database technologies and data modeling within and beyond the team’s scope of responsibilityCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, SaaS Operation, support, and implementation, to ensure seamless integration of database systemsProvide technical mentorship to junior database engineersQualifications:What we are looking for5 to 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with enterprise applications backed with RDBMS databases or SnowflakeExtensive hands-on experience in RDBMS and distributed data platforms as a database developerStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot and resolve database related issuesProficiency in SQL performance tuning in MS SQL Server, Oracle, or SnowflakeStrong track record of building high performance, production quality software on scheduleAbility to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt quickly to changesExcellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersA minimum of 5 years working with an Agile development methodology strongly desiredNice To haveExpert experience with hardware sizing and configuration, operating systems, scripting, and database technologiesExperience in NoSQL databases is preferredExperience with cloud database services such as Azure SQL Database or AWS RDS is a plusExperience with developing applications for the financial markets is a plus (Fixed Income, Trading, FX, Risk, Portfolio/Wealth Management, Market Data, FIX, etc.)Recommended Education:B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics or other technical course of study required.
