Zendesk is seeking a versatile Software Engineer to join the Event Stream Processing and Reporting team based in Krakow, Poland. This team focuses on developing scalable systems for processing event streams and generating valuable reports. By leveraging data analytics, the team provides insights to stakeholders, driving product innovation and informed decision-making.

The team also plays a crucial role in the integration of Zendesk Machine Learning products and aims to enhance customer experience through data-driven solutions. Emphasizing open communication and collaboration, the team tackles complex challenges while striving to deliver tailored solutions that meet business objectives.

What you'll be doing:
  • Publishing well-written and tested code to production
  • Participating in the design and development of key features for event reporting pipelines
  • Investigating and optimizing event pipelines
  • Enhancing event streams and pipelines for efficiency and data quality
  • Working on data instrumentation and integration with platform products
  • Collaborating with team members to tackle technical challenges
What you bring to the role:

Required

  • Prior experience in backend or full-stack application engineering
  • Understanding of event stream processing and data instrumentation
  • Strong communication and time-management skills
  • Commitment to high-quality delivery
  • Belief in teamwork and continuous learning
  • Ability to take ownership throughout the software engineering process

Preferred:

  • Experience with Ruby or Scala services
  • Worked on high-throughput messaging systems like Kafka
  • Experience in system monitoring and alerting
Tech Stack
  • Utilizing Ruby on Rails and Scala for backend development
  • Database storage with AWS Aurora and event streaming via Kafka
  • Deployment and scaling with Kubernetes and AWS
