One of our outsourcing clients, a forward-thinking fintech company based in Silicon Valley, is currently seeking a GL Accountant. This role involves managing the General Ledger, ensuring accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, assisting with month-end processes, and maintaining accounting standards. The GL Accountant will also contribute to financial reporting and analysis. Strong attention to detail and knowledge of accounting principles are essential for this position.

YOU WILL

  • Prepare workpapers, journal entries and reconciliations for key accounts with a focus on merchant revenue, strategic partnerships, loan accounting and capital markets.
  • Implement and monitor revenue recognition policies to ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP. This includes analyzing contracts, identifying revenue-generating activities, and recognizing revenue accurately and ethically.
  • Work closely with the finance team to forecast revenue trends and report on revenue streams. Ensure that all revenue recognition entries are properly accounted for and documented.
  • Maintain a high standard of work product in support of SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance, with a particular focus on revenue recognition practices and their alignment with US GAAP standards.
  • Perform flow analysis on accounts, with particular focus on revenue streams. Provide key support to the Strategic Finance group in interpreting the financial impact of revenue recognition practices.
  • Collaborate regularly with adjacent sub-teams such as Accounting Operations (AP/AR) and Financial Reporting. Contribute to reporting, analysis and process improvements, particularly in the area of revenue recognition.
  • Contribute to the creation of process documentation, particularly related to revenue recognition policies and procedures. Work within the General Ledger (GL) team to improve processes related to revenue recognition and reporting.

YOU NEED

  • At least 4 years of professional experience with a strong focus on revenue recognition practices.
  • A basic, yet comprehensive, understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, particularly in-depth knowledge of revenue recognition guidance.
  • Familiarity with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, particularly as they relate to financial reporting and compliance.
  • Strong process orientation and attention to detail You must have strong analytical and quantitative skills coupled with a solid accounting background, particularly in revenue recognition.
  • You must have effective and confident communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Knowledge of Netsuite and SQL systems is a plus. Familiarity with financial software that supports revenue recognition and reporting is highly desirable.
