Summary
Andersen, an international IT company, invites an experienced System Engineer (DevOps) to join its team.
The customer is a European leading, globally active, integrated technology company that develops components, systems and services with its high innovative strength and pioneering technologies, it has established leading positions in future-oriented business areas. With about 28,000 employees at 139 locations and production sites worldwide.
The project is to map the transition of applications from monolith to microservices.
Technology stack: On-prem, Kafka, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Ansible, Helm, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana.
Responsibilities
Strategizing and planning the infrastructure deployment, management, and monitoring, ensuring the designed system can be effectively deployed, managed, and monitored based on available resources. Evaluating current infrastructure and available resources to devise a plan for necessary infrastructure requirements, considering cloud providers, virtualization, container orchestration systems, etc. Creating a blueprint for designing CI/CD pipelines that align with the architectural plan, ensuring microservices can be deployed smoothly. Drafting strategies to ensure the system's configuration can be managed consistently, taking into account tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet and the current environment. Recommending tools and practices for monitoring system health, performance, and diagnostics, based on both platform-level and application-level needs. Developing strategies for data backup, disaster recovery, and system failover, tailored to the current infrastructure or what can be made available. Proposing mechanisms to scale the infrastructure according to potential load and demand, ensuring adaptability. Planning and recommending security measures, keeping in mind current setups, like setting up firewalls, managing network rules, and handling certificates. Analyzing potential costs associated with the new infrastructure, juxtapose with current expenditures, and suggest optimizations. Acting as a bridge between the architectural team and the infrastructure implementation team, ensuring that the strategies are feasible and align with the architectural goals.
Requirements
Proven track record as a System Engineer (DevOps) for 5-7+ years Background in On-prem Setups English proficiency – from Intermediate+ and above Skilled in building CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) Proficiency in GitLabCI Proficiency in Terraform Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes Hands-on experience with on-prem Kubernetes deployments In-depth knowledge of Helm Proficiency in ArgoCD Understanding of KEDA (Kubernetes Event-driven Autoscaling) Strong familiarity with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis Skills in deploying PostgreSQL clusters Experience in deploying MongoDB clusters Understanding of ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) Capability in setting up ELK clusters Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana Hands-on expertise with Kafka Knowledge of Ceph Practical experience with VMware Familiarity with Kong (API platform) Ability to deploy and configure Hashicorp Consul / Hashicorp Vault Knowledge of SAST (Static Application Security Testing)
