Your challenges
As Jr. Strategic Buyer in our Plastics and Chemicals category, you will be responsible for ensuring good business solutions for the VELUX Group. Your tasks will cover the full range of strategic, tactical, and operational tasks. You will be co-responsible for minimizing our purchasing and production costs and ensuring that our development projects are accomplished in the right quality, at the right time, and at the right price. The successful candidate will achieve this through strong relations with external suppliers as well as internal stakeholders and by pro-active execution of the overall purchasing strategy within your product area. At the VELUX Group, we are on an exciting journey focusing on sustainability and bringing down our carbon footprint, and as a Strategic Buyer, you will have the chance to play a key role in this mission. Order handling is not part of the operational tasks of this role, but is handled by our factories in the US, Europe, and China.
More specifically, you will:
Develop in the category (ies) to understand business needs and requirements
Acts proactively to understand the business needs and requirements
Support other Buyers and Category Managers on category strategy development
Create initiatives and opportunities for their area of responsibility.
Drive RFx process in alignment with category management in supervision
Support/Facilitate change implementation and cost down activities
Build and maintain good relations with suppliers as well as internal stakeholders
You should expect 30-40 traveling days per year.
Your qualifications
This is an entry level role where you develop in the Global Procurement team as buyer. Your educational background may be technically supplemented with a commercial education like an engineer or MSc in Economics & Business Administration. Perhaps you have some professional experience in strategic purchasing. Experience within Plastics and Chemicals is an advantage but not a prerequisite. Additionally, you are an experienced user of SAP, Ariba, and MS Office 365. You are used to working with many processes and procedures and used to keeping an overview of your tasks in a well-structured manner.
You are a good communicator with natural skills of building working relationships which enables you to work across the organization and operate in a matrix organization.
You thrive on having many contacts across geographic borders and cultures, why fluency in English is a prerequisite. You are a strong negotiator, and it is important that you enjoy an outgoing role where your communication skills and your ability to keep in contact, make clear agreements, and get commitment from others will be crucial to your results. Your tasks will be challenging and require sound business acumen.
Since you will be working with forecasting and data analysis to decide on proper actions and solutions, it is important that you possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. You thrive on being able to plan and drive your own tasks and ensure the necessary progress also during changing circumstances.
