As a Staff Software Engineer on the Security Projects team, you’ll be part of a team responsible for ensuring Box’s security posture stays best-in-class. You will interact with multiple teams and technologies to continuously improve security for our end users, administrators, and Boxers (what we call ourselves). This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a rotating set of projects that will increase your knowledge and exposure across the company. As the security landscape continues to evolve, you will work closely with our Global Security Office and multiple Product & Engineering teams to deliver seamless, secure experiences for Box customers around the world.

What you'll do:

Build, enhance and maintain various features in content automation domain including our workflow and forms productsWrite/review high-quality, testable, maintainable, and well-documented codeCollaborate with partner teams and domain architects on the system design and services integrationTriage bugs and resolve issues that may arise during on callMentor and coach engineers from the team, timely provide technical feedbackClearly communicate complex problems and technical concepts to both engineers and non-engineers and can break down complex requirements into stepsRespond to technical and behavioral feedback from manager and peersTeam up with other talented engineers to foster solid engineering principles and represent our engineering valuesUtilize both your technical and interpersonal skills to lead large scale projects to completionModel solid engineering practices around architectural design, testability, scalability and maintainabilityPartner with product managers, designers and other cross-functional stakeholders to align on requirements and understand how your work will impact the businessGather product requirements and write technical design documents (RFC etc.)

Who you are:

10+ years of professional software development experience with an understanding of best practicesFluent in one of the OOP language (Java)Hands-on experience with building highly scalable distributed systemsGood understanding of scalability and observability practicesAct like an owner and strive to do work you're proud of, both technically and in your team interactionsYou are a problem solver and you look for a team of like-minded peopleYou have a deep understanding of algorithms, data structures and software designYou are experienced in helping define REST APIsDemonstrable experience in guiding and mentoring a team of high performing engineersHave proficient knowledge of software designSolid experience with testing principles and frameworks (jest/WDIO/Cypress etc.)Must speak English proficiently

Preferred Skills:

Prior experience in the security domainExperience working with distributed teams in different time zonesLeading cross functional projectsExperience with public cloud systems such as GCP, AWS or Azure

Percentage of time spent:
