About the job

We are seeking for a System Administrator to work in the Mobile team that is responsible for taking care of the backend services for Opera Mini product, VPN-like proxies and other Opera services, mostly on bare metal machines, that are currently serving more than 200 million users. You will be working in a team of a few system administrators, developers and QAs, with varying levels of experience, handling thousands of machines.

Role & Responsibilities:

Configuring, upkeep, designing and developing architecture and infrastructure Setting up, maintenance and debugging on Operating System, network and application level Hardware and software troubleshooting, setting up OS on thousands of machines, handling Debian flavor of Linux Writing and modifying small tools, automation of repetitive tasks

Job Requirements:

Proven experience as a Linux System Administration or similar role Strong knowledge and experience in Linux-based IT environments Proficiency in networking concepts, protocols, and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, HTTP2, WebSockets, etc.). Familiarity with two programming languages Strong analytical problem solving skills Ability to work independently and in a team

SQL databases, data replication, MySQL, MariaDB Galera clusters system monitoring (Grafana, Nagios, Prometheus, Icinga) administration S.M.A.R.T. hardware disk monitoring, IPMI, etc. Linux routing, iptables, tcpdump, systemd LVS/IPVS clusters, VRRP/keepalived Automation via Puppet, Ansible etc. Nginx as a web server, load balancer SSL/TLS, general encryption mechanisms, secure remote access etc.
