Senior MS-SQL Administrator

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with at least 10+ years of extensive experience as an SQL Server Administrator. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MS-SQL DBA advanced database administration and high-availability solutions. The DBA must know how to Install / Configure / Maintain MS-SQL databases. The DBA must have strong knowledge of Python Scripting and Automation. This role is critical for ensuring our mission-critical databases' optimal performance, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

  1. Advanced Database Administration: Create new Microsoft SQL Server instances, configure and maintain database servers and processes, and download and install SQL Server service packs and updates.
  2. SQL Server Administrator: Expert MS-SQL DB administrator, configured and maintained SQL Security controls, proactively monitored SQL Server maintenance tasks, troubleshoot failed processes.
  3. Backup and Recovery: Manage database backup and recovery and disaster recovery planning.
  4. High Availability and Scalability: Configure and manage high-availability solutions such as AlwaysOn availability groups and failover clustering; well-versed with replication methodology, HA configuration, and failover in MS-SQL Database.
  5. Security Management: Develop and enforce comprehensive security policies for database access, encryption, and auditing; perform security patches and upgrades.
  6. Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support for complex database issues, including performance bottlenecks, corruption issues, and critical failures.
  7. Capacity Planning and Growth: Analyze current and future database capacity requirements and plan for scalability to accommodate growth and evolving business needs.
  8. Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation of database architectures, configurations, and processes. Provide regular reports on database performance and status.
  9. Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and other IT stakeholders to support and enhance database-driven applications and services.
  10. Automation: Strong end-to-end Automation Skills, excellent knowledge of Python scripting, Terraform, etc.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are highly desirable.

Experience & Technical Skills:

  1. Minimum of 10+ years of strong experience as a SQL Server Administrator.
  2. 5+ years of proven track record in backup, recovery, and applying security patches.
  3. 4+ years of proficiency in managing and configuring high availability and DR configurations.
  4. Must have 5+ years of proficiency in Python scripting and end-to-end automation.
  5. 2+ years of strong familiarity with Azure Arc and other monitoring and management tools like Service Now.
  6. 5+ years of strong familiarity with experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) with working knowledge on Terraform.
  7. Good to have Oracle DBA knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
