ABOUT DAMEN ENGINEERING GDANSK

Damen Engineering Gdansk is a competence center for engineering to order offshore and specialized vessels with a strong drive for optimizing ship performance. We are set up to be involved in the engineering process from the moment when an idea is generated by the client to the vessel delivery. We are responsible for transforming the initial design into a complete and practicable engineering package. The experienced engineering department is also involved during the production phase of each ship and provides support, as necessary. Close collaboration with the client during the entire process allows us to quickly respond to any changes and ensure we are delivering tailor-made solutions.

THE ROLE:

The Material Planner is responsible for planning and coordination of material supply to the clients/yards, such that all stakeholders in the supply chain perform their tasks in time. Due to its nature, the role is likely to require some degree of travel to the Netherlands.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Planning of equipment to be supplied by supply chain organisation. Based on demarcation, identification of equipment on historical information, specifications and technical experience.
• Identify materials to be ordered in advance of available detailed Engineering information. Evaluate available information based on specification, drawings, parts lists, historical analogies.
• Maintain ERP wanted dates for those equipment managed through the WBS.
• Maintain ERP wanted dates for batch deliveries and ensure relevant parts foreseen per batch are addressed.
• Notify the differences between planned, wanted and promised dates for parts requisitioned and ordered.
• Set up of initial material supply planning based on contract agreements (PDL).
• Update the material supply planning with data of the ERP-system.
• Align materials plan with building contract terms, on RFQ data, Engineering Information availability, drawings release schedule, Materials requisition and Purchase Orders.
• Review Engineering planning, MC-planning, Purchase and parts delivery planning and expedite timely delivery of information, drawings and documents necessary in the procurement process.
• Align materials plan with batch deliveries.
• Monitor (materials) schedule for various shipbuilding projects.
• Communicate delays and assess impact on Mite gating.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Higher level education in the field of mechanical or marine engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience in work preparation, planning, production (experience in shipbuilding is preferred).
• Fluent communication in English and local language.
• Good IT competencies: i.e., MS-Office, Excel, MS Project.
• Knowledge of IFS and SAP would be an advantage.
• Proactive mindset, taking initiative.
• Team work, working with others toward a common goal.
• Accurate, focused on avoiding mistakes.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Planning and organizing skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
