Summary

The Senior Structural Engineer provides support to the Lead Engineer/Engineering Manager and is responsible for supervising a team of structural engineers and designers. The Senior Structural Engineer provides leadership and assists in the resolution of all technical issues related to the discipline. In addition, the Senior Structural Engineer defines and develops the plan to meet the project requirements and manages the team of structural engineers and designers to achieve the expected results in terms of quality, cost, and schedule.

As the successful candidate, you will:
  1. Have a clear understanding of the project requirements as they relate to scope, cost, and schedule.
  2. Develop the structural manpower schedule to be part of the engineering and project schedule in conjunction with the other practices.
  3. Develop the manpower staffing plan for all structural functions and revise as required during design evolution.
  4. Manage and review the development of the Engineering Work Packages associated with all deliverables and time-based functions.
  5. Review and approve the discipline and layout design criteria documents.
  6. Review and approve the discipline engineering and design standards.
  7. Assist in the preparation and development of project specific procedures.
  8. Schedule, coordinate and participate in discipline design reviews.
  9. Ensure coordination of all activities, between the group and other practices, is being performed as the design evolves.
  10. Participate in the internal review and squad checking of project documentation and drawings.
  11. Manage personnel accordingly to respect the man-hour budget.
  12. Assign individuals to the development of the 3D and 2D deliverables.
  13. Ensure 3D reporting and 2D drawing and document deliverable reporting is maintained in Hatch's Engineering Reporting system. Monitor design progress and develop corrective actions if required.
  14. Coordinate production of designs in 3D intelligent design environment.
  15. Ensure relevant technical experts are involved in the design process as required.
  16. Facilitate the sharing of technical expertise both across projects and other Hatch offices.
  17. Perform quality audit verifications to ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities. Instigate corrective actions as required.
  18. Collaborate with the client's representatives to ensure full, appropriate communication and coordination in the achievement of the project objectives.
  19. Support site/field engineering team to provide technical solutions and timely response to technical queries.
  20. Complete statutory handover requirements and agreed project deliverables.
  21. Close out report inputs.
You bring to the role:
  1. A recognized degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  2. Professional engineer registered with relevant country registration authority.
  3. Minimum 10 years' experience.
  4. Ability to manage individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives.
  5. Experience with working on projects in a multidisciplinary environment.
  6. Strong deliverable focus, ability to plan the work.
  7. A high degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline.
  8. Good understanding of procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologies.
  9. Strong leadership skills.
  10. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
