Based in the newly created Global Business Centre in Warsaw, this is a dynamic and multi-faceted role with strong development opportunities.

This position will be responsible for reviewing and validating VAT returns, ECSL and Intrastat filings for multiple entities across Europe and supporting VAT compliance transformation initiatives. Along with the VAT compliance tasks, the role will work with external consultants, the accounting team and IT to ensure completeness and accuracy, effectively managing the complexities associated with cross-border transactions. The Senior VAT Accountant will also act as a Centre of Excellence for indirect tax issues within the Global Business Centre and beyond, advising the business on VAT matters.

The role:
Compliance:
  1. Prepare, analyse, review and approve VAT calculations and VAT returns.
  2. Prepare, review and approve ECSL and Intrastat reporting.
  3. Submit and monitor payments and refunds to ensure they are made on time.
  4. Forecast VAT payments to support Treasury cash management.
  5. Manage external indirect tax consultants and support indirect tax audits.
Tax Accounting:
  1. Prepare and review month end VAT account reconciliations.
Projects and Tax Technology:
  1. Assist with the onboarding of new entities into the VAT compliance process.
  2. Assist in VAT process mapping and improvement, identifying areas for improvement and solutions.
  3. Assist in the maintenance and creation of tax codes, ensuring SAP settings and guidelines.
  4. Assist in ongoing projects related to tax technology (tax engine, e-invoicing, SAF-t).
Requirements:
  1. Experience in VAT accounting working with European VAT reporting standards.
  2. Knowledge of indirect tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  3. Degree in Accounting, law or tax preferred.
  4. Experience with SAP, tax technology, data and processes.
  5. Ability to research technical tax issues.
  6. Ideally working in a complex international environment with cross-border indirect tax exposure.
  7. Ideally exposure to customs issues or willingness to acquire customs knowledge.
  8. A focused, organized, results-oriented, decision maker and self-motivated individual.
  9. Proactive and willing to grow and develop professionally.
  10. Languages: Fluent English required. Other European languages - an advantage.
