The current research program of the Department of Neurooncology:

The department investigates the molecular mechanisms of primary and metastatic brain tumors, witha focus on non-coding RNAs, the tumor microenvironment, and experimental therapies. Its current research includes extracellular vesicles, viral interactions with brain tumors, and immunotherapeutic approaches to preventing glioblastoma recurrence.

The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing and developing projects involving circular RNAs in breast cancer brain metastasis, CMV-associated mechanisms of tumor neovascularization, and oncolytic HSV-based immunotherapy for glioblastoma. The work may also involve multi-omics approaches to biomarker discovery and the development of 3D and organoid models of brain tumors.

The area of the research in which the candidate would participate:

  • “Extracellular vesicles carrying microRNA in experimental immunotherapy for glioblastoma” – NCN OPUS
  • “Factory of extracellular vesicles for personalized anti-cancer recurrence vaccine” – ABM TRANSMED I
