The Opportunity:

This position is ideal for an experienced Software Test Engineer who is passionate about testing complex business problems and applications that provide an excellent user experience.

The role requires a self-motivated individual with software engineering skills, who will be extensively involved in hands-on activities including analyzing business requirements and design documents, developing test plans, test design and test cases, design walk-throughs, testing, and coordinating with other application teams for integration/interface testing.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Perform quality assurance testing inclusive of unit, systems, integration, and regression testing, and support the development of automated test scripts to automate regression testing.
  2. Develop and implement test strategies using industry best practices.
  3. Log software defects in Visa's standard defect tracking tool and collaborate with the development team on defect resolution.
  4. Manage QA environments, perform application deployment, and troubleshooting.
  5. Participate in design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
  6. Collaborate with team members on code reviews.
  7. Support User Acceptance Testing by setting up data and performing support activities.
  8. Conduct walkthroughs of QA test results with business partners as needed.
  9. Develop new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.
  10. Foster partnerships with upstream and downstream teams to ensure alignment and consistency in reducing product risk throughout the SDLC.
  11. Work with Project managers to provide QA estimates, schedule planning, and status updates.
  12. Collaborate with other QA teams for integration testing activities.

This is a hybrid position, where employees can alternate between remote and office work. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 days a week, with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 6+ years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4+ years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Master's, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
  2. Strong foundation in computer science, with excellent competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design, optimized for building highly distributed and parallelized systems.
  3. Hands-on experience in Core Java, J2EE technologies, Microservices, Spring, Hibernate, REST APIs.
  4. Strong proficiency in Core Java development concepts and design patterns, with good design and coding skills in Java/J2EE, Web Services, Spring, Hibernate, Soap/Rest APIs.
  5. Experience developing back-end services and applications, including micro-services architecture.
  6. Experience with TypeScript/ReactJS.
  7. Understanding of state management in complex ReactJS applications.
  8. Ability to write self-validating code using unit tests or following TDD.
  9. Capable of leveraging DevOps techniques and practices like Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Test Automation, Build Automation, and Test Driven Development to enable rapid delivery of working code using tools like Jenkins, Maven, Chef, Git, and Docker.
  10. Experience in Agile development is beneficial.
