Accounting Manager Job Description

Job Summary

Verisk is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our growing GL Team as a process expert and people leader.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the monthly financial close process, ensuring all costs are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and roll-forwards.
  2. Collaborate with business unit controllers and International Edinburgh hub to produce timely, efficient, and accurate month-end closes.
  3. Prepare and review detailed account analyses as part of the month-end close.
  4. Oversee multiple accounting areas, including Prepaid Expenses, Commissions, Fixed Assets, month-end accruals, etc.
  5. Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
  6. Work with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
  7. Cooperate with local Team Leader on people management aspects.
  8. Develop a good understanding of RTR processes (Intercompany, Reporting, Cash Management and Treasury).
  9. Make recommendations for changes and ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
  10. Complete annual Performance Plan responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  1. 5-8 years of accounting experience required, with General Ledger and Technical Accounting strongly preferred.
  2. Working knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS rules required.
  3. Experience in a service center environment.
  4. Proven expertise in understanding evolving accounting issues and innovative decision-making abilities.
  5. Large ERP experience, with Oracle Fusion a plus.
  6. Supervising and coaching team members to drive team development.
  7. Strong leadership skills with collaborative working style.
  8. Attention to detail, self-review ability, and sense of ownership.
  9. Excellent organizational and planning skills, setting goals, establishing priorities, utilizing resources, and meeting deadlines.
  10. Effective documentation, teamwork, and communication skills.
  11. Willingness to work as a full-time employee in a hybrid model from Cracow-based office.
Qualifications
  1. Master's degree in accounting or related field required.
  2. Professional accounting qualification ACCA would be an additional asset.
  3. Fluency in English required at C1 level or higher.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
