What is Global Commissions Team responsible for?

Global Commissions team has responsibility for accounting and reporting of sales, distribution, and marketing transactions in books of Franklin Templeton and its subsidiaries. The work includes effective operation of the processing and analyzing of broker/dealer commissions for all European and International fund groups. Collaborating with others in the commission group and other members within the global finance organization.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of Accountant - Global Commissions?
  1. Prepare and post Trail & Retrocession accruals for all Fund Groups and entities.
  2. Prepare and post Retail accruals for all fund groups and entities.
  3. Calculation of Average Assets.
  4. Prepare and post 3rd Party Trail & Retro Accruals.
  5. Running of asset files and calculation of average assets for accrued files for manually paid dealers.
  6. Preparation of manual payment accruals and posting to Workday.
  7. Mid-month & month end analysis for payables, receivables.
  8. Month end analysis for trail & retro.
  9. Month end analysis of Distribution Fees.
  10. Participate in departmental projects and/or participate in cross-departmental projects.
  11. Assist with maintenance of policies and procedures related to global commissions.
  12. Provide support to Supervisor in month and quarter end reporting.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
  1. An accounting/business tertiary education from a recognized university/college.
  2. 5+ year's practical accounting experience.
  3. Good understanding of financial processes, practices and applications.
  4. Working towards an accounting qualification viewed favorably.
  5. Work experience within the investment management industry and/or financial sector preferred.
  6. Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Proficient computer skills including applications within Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  8. Experience with automated financial systems, including the general ledger, is required. Workday experience viewed favorably.
  9. Experience working with large volume of data and close attention to detail required.
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  11. Ability to work independently and remotely.
  12. Strong attention to detail.
  13. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and analysis.
  14. Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
  15. Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with department guidelines.
  16. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties including Company management and outside business associates.
  17. Knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary.
  18. Works under general supervision; work is reviewed for accuracy.
  19. Develops solutions to a variety of problems; ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
