We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Android Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Android application development, a deep understanding of modern development frameworks and tools, and specific expertise in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM). Mobile&XR team is a very dynamic, open and adaptive team mixing many skills and competences to keep ahead of mobile world changes. We have Developers, IT Architects, BAs, Testers, Support Specialists, Designers & PMs. Most of us working in a couple of roles in the agile way.

We are part of Digital Technology department within Volvo Group Digital & IT organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and maintain advanced Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
  2. Integrate and work with REST APIs, Firebase services, and other market-standard technologies.
  3. Develop and optimize applications that utilize Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for device communication.
  4. Collaborate on projects involving Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) to deliver cross-platform solutions.
  5. Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications by conducting rigorous testing and debugging.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  7. Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our applications are modern and competitive.
  8. Mentor junior developers and contribute to code reviews to maintain high development standards.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of professional experience in Android development.
  3. Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java programming languages.
  4. Hands-on experience with:
    1. RESTful API integration.
    2. Firebase (e.g., Firestore, Cloud Messaging, Authentication).
    3. Jetpack Compose and other modern Android frameworks.
    4. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for device communication.
  5. Solid understanding of software design principles, data structures, and algorithms.
  6. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with Agile methodologies.
  2. Knowledge of additional cross-platform frameworks.
  3. Familiarity with performance profiling tools and techniques.
