  • Welcome to the DEX Location Intelligence's Data Science team, where we pride ourselves on driving data-driven products that propel the business forward. Our expertise spans across many areas of geospatial analysis like origin destination volume management (ODVM), utilizing a mix of Machine Learning (ML), Google Cloud Platform components, advanced statistical software, and GIS spatial databases. The geospatial domain empowers us to discover hidden patterns and trends in spatial data, leading to optimization in route planning, asset allocation, and a superior understanding of our service areas.
  • We delve into network planning, applying modeling techniques to support strategic thinking, which facilitates us in devising optimal routes for delivery and managing our distribution network. We also hold proficiency in delivery time prediction, leveraging predictive analytics and machine learning. Consequently, we transform large volumes of data into actionable solutions that significantly impact our business operations and decision-making.
  • You will be part of a team of data scientists, working closely with product, operations, and engineering teams to build predictive models, optimize delivery flows, and ensure cost-effective parcel routing.

Responsibilities:
  • Data Modeling & Analysis: Creating complex data models using machine learning, deep learning, and statistics to understand and predict patterns.
  • Data Processing & Automation: Employing Python and SQL on cloud platforms (mainly GCP) to process and automate petabytes of data.
  • Geospatial Analytics: Using GIS tools, Python GIS libraries, and location-based data to extract insights and improve decision-making.
  • Operational Excellence: Identify and mitigate supply chain bottlenecks, manage volume load across different routes, and dynamically allocate volume between Allegro's own operations (AOK) and third-party carriers.
  • Research Participation: Involvement in research activities whose findings and recommendations directly influence the development direction of our products.
  • Data Management: Collaborating with engineers to foster the availability, integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data and pipelines.
  • Collaboration: Working with the team to tackle complex issues, mentoring junior members, and fostering knowledge sharing.
  • Communication & Data Visualization: Providing clear, visually focused communication of advanced data insights to non-technical stakeholders through report writing and presenting.
Requirements:
  • Education: Graduated with a degree strongly related to statistical/mathematical modeling, such as Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Data Scientist role or a similar capacity.
  • Mandatory Technical Skills: Proficient in programming languages, libraries, and tools like Python, Pandas, Scikit-learn, CatBoost, XGBoost, TensorFlow, Matplotlib/Plotly, Optuna, Poetry, Git, and Tableau/Looker Studio.
  • Data Analysis Skills: Experience analyzing large data volumes using technologies like SQL (BigQuery) and GCP Platform (including Airflow and Vertex AI).
  • Technical Understanding: Good grasp of statistical, machine learning, and deep learning methods.
  • Critical Analyzer: Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex data.
  • Adaptability: Quick at learning new technologies and keeping updated with industry trends.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Eager to translate business problems into ML solutions.
  • Team Player: Committed to fostering a team-oriented environment centered around shared problem-solving.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicate with business units, from formulating an analytical problem to providing a clear and intuitive presentation of results.
  • Desired Technical Skills: Familiarity with PySpark, GeoPandas, Shapely, spatial indexes, Carto, Esri, Kubernetes is preferred.
