Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking to hire a passionate Software Engineer to join our team in Ireland, Spain or Czech Republic. As a member of a high-impact team, you will play an important role in energizing the Autodesk developer community, work with 3rd party application developers, and influence the Autodesk engineering teams on API requirements for making the community and Autodesk to succeed.

The Opportunity

Autodesk is looking for a talented and motivated Developer Advocate to join our team. We are working closely with the engineering team developing the core software building blocks on which current and future Autodesk products are being built. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about learning new technologies and promoting technologies to Autodesk partners. You are able to face new technologies and challenges and work in a dynamic and collaborative environment with some very passionate and awesome people. You will help Autodesk partners imagine and create a better world by contributing to the development of the next generation of design products and services that are connected to the cloud and can be accessed from a desktop and directly from within a browser. We are a global team, and you will collaborate with a variety of people and teams from around the world. Take an active role in writing code samples, work on proof of concept using rapid prototyping principles and present technology in various events. Produce high-quality readable code, covered with tests, and participate in code reviews. Continuously learn and improve your coding and design skills.

Responsibilities

  1. Implement prototypes and software components.
  2. Develop technical content for the developer community including sample code, blog articles, and whitepapers.
  3. Write extensive sample code that demonstrates API usage and best practice.
  4. Provide technical (API programming) advice to the community on various channels such as StackOverflow and Autodesk Forum. Help resolve technical issues including communicating the functions of a particular API, assisting with the software code and programming-related API questions.
  5. Use knowledge of Autodesk product APIs to assist partners with their business objectives of providing value-added software for their customers. Assist with their software design by providing them with technical information on Autodesk APIs and technologies.
  6. Assist with technical marketing activities including presentations and event participation.
  7. Work with internal product development engineering teams worldwide to help resolve customer and developer issues. Act as a liaison between engineering and the developer community by helping to evaluate and influence new API releases to help meet the needs of the community.
  8. Work on state-of-the-art technology to bring 3D content creation applications to the cloud.
  9. Work as an integral member of a high-performance team making an important individual contribution.
  10. Estimate effort and schedule for projects, adhering to quality standards and continuously adapting to change of requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. BS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  2. Experience in an OOP environment.
  3. The ability to implement efficient and maintainable code.
  4. A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things to the next level.
  5. Ability to operate effectively and independently in a dynamic, fluid environment.
  6. Detail-oriented and passionate about building software and technology.
  7. Fluent in English. Written and verbal English skills are extremely important.
  8. Ability to be patient and communicate across cultures.
  9. Enjoy interacting with people – including one-on-one conversations and presenting to audiences at conferences.
  10. Experience with web application development, REST, JavaScript, and/or .NET.
  11. Experience with Autodesk Revit API, and BIM 360/ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud) and APS (Autodesk Platform Services) API.

Bonus points

  1. Experience with Git or equivalent revision control systems.
  2. Knowledge about web development related technology such as Node.js, npm, Visual Studio and NuGet.
  3. Basic experience with React, Angular or Vue.js.
  4. Theoretical knowledge about reactive and functional programming.
  5. A background in computer graphics with both theoretical and practical expertise.
  6. Comfortable and effective working in new areas that require experimentation and rapid problem solving.
  7. Hands-on experience with security best practices.
  8. Practical experience with testing of user interfaces.

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location.
