pursuant to the provisions of Article 43 of the Law on Research Institutes (consolidated text Journal of Laws of 2024, item 534) and § 9 of the Statute of the Building Research Institute

ANNOUNCES A COMPETITION for the position of the Assistant Professor in the Fire Research Department in the group of research workers

Place of work: Warsaw and Pionki (Mazovia district in Poland)

Persons who meet the conditions specified in Article 43 of the Law on Research Institutes (consolidated text Journal of Laws of 2024, item 534), as well as the conditions mentioned below, may enter the competition.

Eligibility requirements: Skills/Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in technical sciences in civil engineering, geodesy and transport.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a scientific or research institution.
  • At least 5 years of experience carrying out research on the fire resistance of structural elements.
  • Scientific publications over the last two years with credits in accordance with the current list of Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
  • Publications on topics related to fire safety of structures, with particular emphasis on fire resistance.
  • Participation in scientific projects and grants.
  • Experience in public speaking during training courses and conferences.
  • Proficiency in English language, both spoken and written, enabling work in international teams.
  • For foreign candidates, proficiency in Polish, spoken and written, sufficient for effective communication.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Creativity and a high degree of independence.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Driver's license.

Responsibilities:

  • Participating in scientific research as well as commissioned research and development work in the field of fire safety of engineering structures.
  • Developing scientific and technical assessments and expert opinions based on current technical knowledge and normative documents (Eurocodes, Polish Standards, EAD), in the field of fire resistance and compliance with the requirements of technical conditions.
  • Conducting fire resistance tests, particularly on structural elements.
  • Preparing test, classification and evaluation reports on fire resistance.
  • Maintaining records of completed work and orders in accordance with the ITB quality management system requirements.
  • Publishing scientific articles and participating in industry conferences and seminars.

  • A list of scientific publications with credits from the last two years, along with a description of scientific and engineering achievements.
  • A list of publications related to construction in mining areas.
  • A signed declaration stating that, in the event of winning the competition and starting work, the Building Research Institute will be the primary place of employment for the duration of the contract in this position.
