The Demand Planner takes responsibility for driving the creation of strong statistical forecasting through effective use of the planning solution, including parameter setting, data cleansing, outlier management etc.

Increase the positive forecast value of the consensus forecast by achieving high accuracy and optimal bias of the consensus forecast. This will involve processing business insights including S&OP, promotions, demand shifting and New Product Introduction (NPI), as well as anticipating market trends. Working collaboratively with the inventory planning and purchasing team, the role takes joint responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of purchase forecasting and driving improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensuring timely and accurate maintenance of the planning solution to deliver optimal statistical forecasting
  2. Understanding the impact of various factors including product or category drivers, seasonality and results of past promotions
  3. Driving the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine-led (ML) models in improving statistical forecasting, working collaboratively with other business functions and planning solution vendors
  4. Providing insight into statistical forecasting and the regional sales and operations planning (S&OP) process, validating results and working closely with the market to ensure that the agreed consensus forecast is meaningful at an aggregated level before it is introduced into Advanced Planning Systems (APS). Working to continuously improve forecast accuracy and bias by utilizing S&OP business insights, promotional data, NPI data and key market trends to enhance forecasting
  5. Taking responsibility for areas such as S&OP forecast enrichment, promotion planning, demand shifting (category management), new product introduction (NPI) and phase-out, and regular forecast review (top-down and bottom-up).
  6. Taking ownership of consensus forecast key performance indicators (KPIs) including demand forecast accuracy, demand forecast bias, demand forecast value added
  7. Working in continuous collaboration with other functions or S&OP process to improve purchase forecast drivers, particularly where dependent on sales forecast quality
  8. Sharing valuable and structured insights into forecast with key stakeholders.

Skills and Experience needed:

  1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  2. Sense of responsibility and ownership
  3. Minimum of two years' experience working in a demand planning, forecasting or supply chain planning role
  4. Skilled in the use of Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel
  5. Good communication skills and fluency in English language both written and spoken

An advantage would be:

  1. Experience with Access and PowerQuery
  2. Knowledge of statistical modeling
  3. Experience working within the automotive aftermarket business
