The creation of Wealth and Personal Banking has allowed us to build on our position as one of the world’s largest and fastest growing wealth franchises. Significant effort has already been made towards the WPB strategy to deliver exceptional products, service, and experiences to our customers. Engineering Foundation is an Enabler Value Stream that will enable and accelerate WPB engineering teams to develop resilient and performant applications, delivering value to the business more easily and quickly. This will be achieved through a fully managed strategic and cost optimised Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) for developing and deploying applications to the cloud. PaaS Solution Architect will define the technology strategy and implementation roadmap for the PaaS capabilities. Their primary stakeholders are the value stream lead, fellow architects, Engineering Foundation, engineers, and product owners. The platform architect’s core deliverables are aimed at providing direction for the development of a platform and capabilities using enterprise architecture tools and techniques, ensuring there is clear understanding and direction to improve the strategic technology fitness of the platform - for example, a simplification plan, architecture roadmap to address key risks. They will provide a blended capability of strategy, technology decisioning, patterning, standards, and frameworks, created to support the activities of the solution architects.
responsibilities :
Ensure the PaaS platform architecture reflects the needs of the products and associated enterprise-wide requirements and working closely with the WPB architecture function and the solution architects to ensure alignment.
Understand platform requirements by determining the business aspiration for solution delivery in the medium / long term.
Iteratively deliver an architecture that aligns against the business strategy.
Ensure the solution designs created by solution architects are: · compliant with the platform architecture and roadmap.
Work with the Technical Product Manager, CTOs, Product Owner, Solutions Architect and Technical Leads to turn overall business requirements into more detailed stories which are progressed by the teams.
Work with engineering teams to realise the architecture and, where appropriate, provide full life cycle technical guidance to development teams and ensure quality technical deliverables.
Own and evolve technology patterns within the PaaS SVS.
Undertake sample code reviews for assigned projects to ensure the code is delivered in accordance with Group standards and methodology Architecture Mindset as well as evaluate new technologies and alignment of technology within the architectural framework.
