We are looking for a talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and help us build scalable, performant, and reliable backend systems that power our blockchain infrastructure products. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining server-side applications, APIs, and databases. You will work closely with our product managers, front-end developers, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet our customers' needs.

About Us:
At Herodotus, we are building solutions that provide smart contracts with synchronous access to on-chain data across Ethereum layers. By leveraging storage proofs and zero-knowledge proofs, our solutions allow smart contracts to read and process historical and current on-chain data and enable developers to write contracts that can seamlessly retrieve data from L1 State on L2s. L2 State on L1s and L2 State on L2s, eliminating the necessity for asynchronous messaging.

About you:
You are a highly motivated problem solver, eager to tackle complex coding and engineering challenges head-on. You prefer to take a proactive approach rather than a reactive one

Key Requirements:
Prior experience working with blockchain technology or strong understanding of the field.
Strong proficiency in English (B2/C1 level)
Extensive experience with NodeJS and Typescript, with a deep understanding of their core concepts and best practices
Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, and EC2
Solid understanding of software design patterns and how to apply them in real-world scenarios
Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, and relational databases such as Postgres
Proficiency with message queuing systems such as RabbitMQ, and caching systems such as Redis
Experience with integrating 3rd party APIs and building scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant systems
Familiarity with serverless architectures and event-driven programming
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
Familiarity with various algorithms and data structures.

Good to have:
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or other relevant field.
Basic knowledge of cryptography and security best practices
Knowledge of Rust or Go Language
Any familiarity with the cryptocurrency industry

Responsibilities:
Design and develop scalable, performant, and reliable backend systems that power our products
Write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code using NodeJS, Typescript, and other relevant technologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement APIs, data models, and system architectures.
Optimize and fine-tune database queries, caching, and message queuing systems to improve performance and reduce latency.
Troubleshoot and debug production issues, and provide timely and effective solutions.
Stay up-to-date with the latest backend technologies, frameworks, and libraries, and identify opportunities to improve our systems and processes.
Mentor and coach junior engineers and lead by example in terms of best practices, coding standards, and code reviews.
