Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to contribute to all aspects of programming work within potentially several prototyping teams. As a member of our team, you will play a key role in accelerating the development of prototypes that could materially influence the process of risk analysis and risk measurement at HSBC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other developers, data analysts and modellers to manage software development lifecycle.
  • Software Development: Actively utilise tried and tested methods for managing the development of software.
  • Risk Management: Comply with standard FIM requirements and act to minimize operational risk.
  • Documentation: Maintain technical documentation throughout prototyping and core development processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders during delivery.

Requirements:

  • Programming Experience: Experience in building, testing applications in a professional environment in Python.
  • Mathematical Environment: Some experience programming in a mathematical or engineering technical environment (such as MATLAB).
  • Design Patterns: Knowledge of common design patterns.
  • Testing Principles: Strong knowledge of testing principles.
  • Agile Development: Some experience developing in an Agile environment with preferably some experience with continuous integration practices.

Nice to Have:

  • Programming Languages: Substantive and consistent experience developing applications using a programming language (e.g. Java, C++, C#, Python or Go).
  • Databases: Familiarity with algorithms for capturing and processing large datasets (i.e. Map/Reduce).
  • Machine Learning: Some knowledge of machine learning and pattern recognition techniques.
  • Database Architectures: Experience working with non-traditional database architectures (such as column free / NoSQL / graph-theoretic structures).
  • Education: MSc or PhD in a technical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Operational Research and/or Information Systems (Informatics).
