We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Product Line Tender Buyer to join our team at Wabtec Corporation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to work on the procurement of components and materials for our products. As a Product Line Tender Buyer, you will be responsible for evaluating cost options, managing localization constraints, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.

About the Role:

  • Evaluate cost of components based on existing designs, specifications, and 3D quantities to quote competitively.
  • Manage localization constraints to ensure successful project execution.
  • Integrate and monitor risk of Raw Material and Inflation.
  • Challenge proposed designs using Capitalization Tools and alternative cost-effective solutions.
  • Feed capitalization tools with supplier offers.
  • Guarantee commitment from Purchasing / Sourcing on value of Bill of Material (BOM) proposed to Tender team.
  • Prepare the Tender Purchase Plan for validation by Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate Cost of Components / Contribute to purchasing competitiveness:
    • Define Unit prices for all items indicating assumptions (quantities, raw material index price).
    • Send RFQs for critical components.
    • Confirm each price if estimation, carry-over quote, or offer received from supplier.
    • Highlight share of impacted Raw Material in BOM with corresponding Index value.
  • Manage Localization Constraints:
    • Integrate localization constraints in sourcing process with relevant choice of suppliers.
    • Confirm localization content in BOM with corresponding percentage.
  • Challenge Proposed Design:
    • Using Capitalization Tool.
    • Promote use of carry-over components.
  • Guarantee Commitment from Purchasing:
    • Identify gaps between purchasing commitment vs tender requirements.
    • Integrate and monitor risk of Raw Material and Inflation.
    • Highlight potential schedule risks due to supplier lead-time vs project schedule request.
    • Feed Risks & Opportunities during project phase - localization opportunities, failure to identify local source.
    • Check application of Km as defined by finance department.
    • Confirm key assumptions like taxes, freight, and exclusions.
    • Consolidate REX from previous project and take into account in tender costing phase.

Requirements:

  • Master degree preferred, in Engineering and/or Purchasing Management or professional experience equivalent.
  • Engineering background is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within World Class, globalized industrial environment and/or Demanding Discrete Industries (Automotive, Consumer Goods…).
  • Expertise on commodity assigned.
  • Working experience in cross-functional teams.
  • Purchasing / Negotiation skills - advanced level.
  • Excel and Powerpoint - advanced level.
  • English Professional proficiency written and spoken; German can be a plus.
  • Good Communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Open minded.
  • Pro-active attitude.
  • Resistance to stressful environment.
