About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Colas USA. As a critical member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supporting projects with various functions, tasks, technical details, and interpretations of project requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reading and understanding plans and specifications,
  • Performing quantity takeoffs,
  • Performing solicitations to Vendors and Subcontractors,
  • Working on project site to observe progression,
  • Generating change orders for the project using estimating software,
  • Transferring information from estimating software to job cost software,
  • Communicating roll out of projects with Project Manager, Superintendent and field personnel,
  • Performing safety requirements and ensuring that risks are mitigated,
  • Performing submittals to agencies as required for construction of project,
  • Reviewing and analyzing job cost information – verifying accurate and complete, addressing and or correcting as necessary,
  • Communicating with Project Manager and Superintendent on a regular basis to ensure project issues and concerns are addressed,
  • Generating billing quantities from information provided by field personnel and contractual requirements,
  • Providing clear step-by-step directions and answering questions while organizing the project,
  • Able to work and assist others to work in a safe manner within the guidelines of the company's policies,
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends if required,
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering (or related field of study),
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with others in a team environment,
  • Current, valid driver's license (required) along with a driving record that meets company safety guidelines to operate a company vehicle (required),
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical for a DOT medical card (required).
