About the Role

At Google, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible with cloud-based AI solutions. As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on our Document Cloud AI team, you'll be at the forefront of this innovation, working on high-impact projects that transform the way we understand and interact with documents.

With your technical expertise, you'll design, develop, and deploy large-scale software solutions that leverage the best of traditional techniques and Large Language Models (LLMs). Your work will have a direct impact on the accuracy and quality of our downstream applications, including search, chat, analytics, and document processing.

We're looking for a seasoned software engineer who can provide technical leadership, influence and coach a distributed team of engineers, and facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.
  • Influence and coach a distributed team of Engineers.
  • Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 7 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g. TensorFlow), artificial intelligence, deep learning or natural language processing.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture, and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
